Organised into five districts, each centred on a key sight – the Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, and the Vatican – art/shop/eat Rome gives ideas for a perfect day in that part of town: the main sights and one or two quirkier ones too; the best places to eat or have a coffee; and some original shopping ideas, presented in an uncluttered and navigable format with excellent maps throughout.

We recently returned from a week’s holiday in Rome and used your art/shop/eat Rome guide almost exclusively as it fits neatly into the pocket and gave us all the information we felt we needed for a brief stay.

We stayed in the Hotel Bramante which indeed lived up to all expectations and the breakfasts are not just particularly good, they are exceptional. I cannot think when I had a better hotel breakfast in Europe anywhere. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly and it was an excellent recommendation.

We should also like to let you know about a restaurant just round the corner from this hotel which changed hands in November 2007, I believe. The food and wine here was in a different class from other places we ate in, and only marginally more expensive. The owner/manager was also extremely welcoming on our first visit and on our second, 5 days later, he even remembered what we had eaten previously. Definitely a restaurant for you to consider for a future guide. Their website is:
