What is a trip journal?

On these pages we provide the space and easy-to-use technology for you to keep an online journal (a “blog”) of a cultural trip, essentially a diary describing your trip with accompanying images, to share with family, friends and other Blue Guides readers and bloggers. (See an example ยป)

Why keep one?

Here are three good reasons for keeping a journal of your trip:

1. You’ll enjoy the trip more, get more out of it. The mindset that accompanies thinking about what you are seeing with a view to writing it down, even explaining it to yourself and others, documenting it with illustrative photographs, results in a pleasurable, more profound interaction with stimulating, foreign environments.

2. You’ll remember more of what you did and saw. Both because the action of recalling and writing it down at the time will reinforce it in your memory, and becuase you will have the online document as an aide-memoire.

3. You’ll help others enjoy and benefit more from their trip. Your journal will be a resource for future travellers to check: what sites are worthwhile to visit, what can help one understand what one is looking at . . .
